The Founding Documents of the United States

The Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights—collectively known as the Charters of Freedom—stand at the heart of the American experiment in ordered liberty. Together, they proclaim the principles upon which the nation was founded, establish a constitutional government of limited and divided powers, and safeguard the fundamental liberties of the American people. For more than two centuries, these documents have shaped the nation’s understanding of unalienable rights, self-government, and the Rule of Law.
